Why I Bought An SLR, A Story With Ridley Scott

This is a picture of Ridley Scott taken during Blade Runner Day at the BFI.
The pic was taken on my point-and-shoot using its pathetic flash (well, okay we weren't supposed to take pictures but then everyone else was doing it, so my friend Marty and I figured, what the hell). In spite of being real close to him, I still got the worst possible pic ever.

There he is with Stephen Frears.
But you wouldn't know it just by looking.

I was also this close to getting his (Ridley's, not Steve's) autograph but got blocked by punters and just as he was about to reach me, the bloody idiots at the BFI said, "That's it!"
I hate the BFI with a vengeance.

It was not a good day, not especially since Ben Kingsley was also within arm's reach.

The only person with any luck was Marty who got Rutger Hauer's autograph.
Boy, has RH aged some (no was a most surreal day).
Needless to say, it was a sign to get an SLR, once and for all.

Well, I'll be darned... managed to capture the sunlight streaming in by chance.

Jim's Dying

My beautiful blue cornish rex is dying. His kidneys are failing him and he keeps throwing up. He's still at the vet's, poor thing.

10 Reasons Why Kathryn Bigelow Should Win An Oscar

1) She'll be the first woman director to ever do so.

2) It would be a well deserved kick up James "I'm The King Of The World" Cameron's great big egotistical behind.

3) James "I'm The King Of The World" Cameron is her ex husband...

4) ...and he makes really contrived, stupid speeches. That whole line in Navi at the Golden Globes was pure rubbish.

5) The Hurt Locker is AMAZING.

6) Avatar SUCKS.

7) She has never done a chick flick.

8) Everybody of a certain age knows who Johnny Utah and Bodhi are.

9) Would you believe she's 59 years old?? At the time of filming Hurt Locker, she was trekking up sand dunes and making her 99% male cast and crew look bad.

10) She's smart, beautiful, daring and creative... what's not to like?

Show and Tell 8: In Bloom

1) Trying to go for a full-blown Georgia O' Keefe effect on this rose. Love the detail.

2) Maybe I should have cropped this a little tighter... No matter. The detail is still awesome.

3) Have never been good at flower names. Are these hydrangas? Whatever. I like the shot.
